Who is eligible?

Any resident of Blue Earth County or North Mankato may receive assistance from ECHO Food Shelf. 



New clients, updating household, and adding additional household members

COVID-19 Update:


We now answer the phones 9 am-4:30 pm. Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri and 9 am-6:30 pm Thursday. Please call 507-345-7508 to schedule a pick up time

Clients will get a call back from a different line to determine special dietary needs or restrictions.

Pick up times are scheduled 10 am-4:15 pm Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri and 10 am-6:15 pm Thursday.

For the safety of all, clients must wait outside for the food to be brought out to them.

New clients and those without a phone can schedule their pickup in person. Come to the west door, where Summer Feeding and Thanksgiving baskets are distributed. Only one person at a time will be allowed to enter the building.


Eligibility and Registration

Eligibility is self declared.

Non-standard Requests

Because ECHO is a client choice food shelf, you will be able to choose the items that you would prefer. There will be a volunteer assisting you with finding the food items you need.
  Anything beyond the standard food order including baby items, snacks, juice, laundry detergent, dish soap, baking supplies, soy milk, powdered milk, personal care items, etc. may or may not be available.

How do I receive food?

Are you new?

Fill out the New Client Application.  Complete the Regular Order Form to customize your order and schedule a time for pickup. See the link on the left.

Are you a current client?

  • Set up an appointment by phone, 507-345-7508.  Phones are answered on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 11:00am to 4:30pm and Thursday from 9:00am to 6:30pm.
  • Schedule online before 9am on the day of your appointment. See the links on the left.
    • Name of Household
    • Client #
    • What type of visit your want: regular or ECHO Extras
    • Number of seniors, adults and children in household
  • Set up an appointment in person during regular hours. You will receive the next available appointment.

Additional Programs

ECHO Delivers Outreach Program

ECHO recognizes that there is a segment of the population who needs extra food for their diet but cannot access the food shelf during regular operating hours because they lack transportation.  For residents in this situation, ECHO will start offering delivery of food supplies to those individuals who ask for the service.

ECHO Extras

Clients receive food items that we have in abundance.  This program may be used 1 time per week.

Summer Feeding Program

The Summer Feeding Program provides supplemental food for children during the summer months when school lunches are not available.  Families receive food 1 time per week.

Thanksgiving Basket Distribution

ECHO offers Thanksgiving Baskets which contain a turkey or ham and other food items to complete a Thanksgiving meal.  This service is offered the week before Thanksgiving.
