Who is eligible?
Any resident of Blue Earth County or North Mankato may receive assistance from ECHO Food Shelf. Each household is eligible to visit the food shelf up to 12 times per year.

We ask that you bring your own boxes or bags to pack your groceries.
Eligibility and Registration
- Proof of identity of the head of household
- Names and birth dates of all individuals who currently live in the household.
- Proof of residency in Blue Earth County or North Mankato
- Knowledge of assistance programs in which you participate
Because ECHO is a client choice food shelf, you will be able to choose the items that you would prefer. There will be a volunteer assisting you with finding the food items you need. Anything beyond the standard food order including baby items, snacks, juice, laundry detergent, dish soap, baking supplies, soy milk, powdered milk, personal care items, etc. may or may not be available.
How do I receive a food?
You may set up an appointment by phone, 507-345-7508, or in-person during business hours.
Appointments set up in person may be scheduled for the following business day if there are no openings. There must be a waiting period of seven days between visits.
ECHO Delivers Outreach Program
ECHO recognizes that there is a segment of the population who needs extra food for their diet but cannot access the food shelf during regular operating hours because they lack transportation. For residents in this situation, ECHO will start offering delivery of food supplies to those individuals who ask for the service.

Clients receive food items that we have in abundance. This program may be used 1 time per week.
Summer Feeding Program
The Summer Feeding Program provides supplemental food for children during the summer months when school lunches are not available. Families receive food 1 time per week.
Thanksgiving Basket Distribution
ECHO offers Thanksgiving Baskets which contain a turkey or ham and other food items to complete a Thanksgiving meal. This service is offered the week before Thanksgiving.
Please contact ECHO if you are unable to make it to your scheduled appointment. If we are not informed within 2 business days, your missed appointment will still count as one of your 12 visits.
